FOOD ROUTES
The project Food Routes intends to strengthen the VET ecosystem of the Maghreb region in providing a qualified young and entrepreneurial workforce in the gastronomy field in line with the aspirations of both private sector’s stakeholders as well as those of young VET graduates. This will be done by empowering VET staff in supporting youth’s career counselling and by providing new and relevant competence-oriented training to VET students for them to proactively seize business opportunities in the gastronomy sector. The main target groups for Food Routes are trainers, educators, and students in VET from Maghreb region, in the South-Mediterranean region.
Objectives
- Food Routes is focused on the enhancement of VET providers’ skills to identify socioeconomic opportunities in Maghreb region, aiming to support youth to get involved into food industry entrepreneurial activities. The development of the local and national market will be the indirect and sustainable impact. The three pillars of creative thinking are skills’ enhancement (both for VET providers and students), entrepreneurship and inclusive environment.
- The aim is to strengthen the capacity of the VET sector to provide a qualified and employable population that can match the needs of the gastronomy sector and tourism ecosystem in the Maghreb region. The objective will be achieved through the development of capacities of both staff and initial VET learners.
- The main target groups for Food Routes are trainers, educators, and students in VET from Maghreb region, in the South-Mediterranean region
Expected Results
The project will implement through a three-pronged approach:
- the first one is the cooperation with the private sector, increasing VET’s capacity to interact with it through a sustainable cooperation (STRENGTH);
- the second one is the organization of capacity building activities in three steps for VET student (KNOWLEDGE);
- the third approach involves the development of ‘life-skills’ through hands-on activities (WBL and business simulations) to stimulate the entrepreneurship mindset of VET students (PASSION).
