† EVBB mourns Dr. Lubov Popova

It is with great sorrow and bleeding hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our dear friend Dr. Lubov Popova. 

As Executive Director of the State enterprise “Bulgarian-German Vocational Training Centre”, Dr. Lubov Popova was not only a highly experienced and reliable cooperation partner in EVBB’s, the EU’s  and its numerous members’ activities and projects. She had also become a dear friend to many of us, always ready to support and to make EVBB develop and grow.

During her many years that she had spent as a member of the EVBB Executive Committee, she had always come up with remarkable ideas in the context of vocational education and training (VET). She helped organizing quite a few conferences of EVBB, the last one in Sofia in 2018 which became an unforgettable event for both the learners and the members’ representatives. The EVBB’s Sofia Declaration as the final outcome of the conference reflects Lubov’s vision and ideas of a world which promotes VET as a first choice and an opportunity to make the tripartite relationship between training and education centres, learners and potential employers a success story. 

We will very much miss her engaging and energetic personality as well as her ideas and cooperative spirit. Never ever will we forget her warm-hearted, unique character which had become a corner stone in EVBB’s history and management. 

The Executive Board, former executives, management, employees and all member organisations of the European Association of Institutes for Vocational Training are united in deep mourning for her tragic and sudden death.

We would like to extend our deepest sympathy to her family, friends and colleagues in Bulgaria and around the world.
