Circular VET
Circular VET project intends to update VET curricula on the competencies linked to the transition from a linear to a circular business model in the mechanical sector. VET teachers and graduates will acquire the new circular skills needed to adapt their professional profile, developing curricula consistent with these needs and reducing the skills mismatch mechanical companies are facing. The project adopts an interdisciplinary approach, promoting collaboration between VET schools and companies.
Objectives of the project
Needs:
The first source was desk research analysis focused on the mechanic sector at European, national and regional level in each country participating in the project.
Project aims:
Main target VET TEACHERS, VET LEARNERS, WORKERS
Expected Results
Result 1: the definition of the new circular skills in the mechanical sector declined in different business functions and identification of the gap in VET curricula and the creation of a database of circular economy best applications in the mechanical sector.
Result 2: the realisation of a training programme targeted to VET schools on circularity issues piloted during the project and then offered as a standing alone training course in the organisations involved in the project and also addressed to other interested parties (MOOC)
Result 3: a simulation of a real working situation for the calculation of the Carbon Footprint (which is the basis for Circular Economy) through the development of an innovative tool – ZeroCarbon. The tool will be developed to be used for educational/scholastic purposes. The tool will allow teachers to let students experiment with environmental footprint calculation by understanding the basics of the method and the sources of information needed.
Result 4: the definition of a CERTIFICATION OF SKILLS through the training pathway and simulation through the Zero Carbon tool.
Project Activities
- Database of Circular Economy Best Practices: A collection of real-world applications showcasing circular economy principles in the mechanical sector. This resource helps stakeholders learn from practical examples and apply these practices in their own organizations.
- Guide to New Circular Jobs in the Mechanical Industry: A comprehensive guide highlighting emerging job roles and skills required for the green transition. Targeted at VET teachers, students, and companies to align training with industry needs.
- Circular Economy Training Programme for VET Schools: An innovative curriculum tailored for VET schools, designed to incorporate circular economy principles into education. This programme will be piloted and made accessible to interested educational institutions.
- ZeroCarbon Educational Tool: A digital tool for calculating the carbon footprint, enabling VET learners and teachers to simulate real-world environmental impact scenarios and learn the fundamentals of sustainability assessment.
- Certification Scheme with Micro-Credentials: A structured certification process to formally recognize skills acquired through the CircularVET programme. Micro-credentials will provide flexibility and transparency for learners and employers.
- Workshops and Events for Stakeholder Engagement: Interactive sessions designed to foster dialogue between VET schools and industry, aimed at enhancing collaboration and understanding of circular economy needs.
- MOOC (Massive Open Online Course): A free, accessible online course on circular economy applications in the mechanical sector, targeting a wide audience including educators, learners, and professionals.
