The EU Vocational Skills Week 2023 wrapped up with the EU Policy Camp: VET4EU2 event, a high-level assembly hosted by EVBB. Themed “VET for today and tomorrow for a Europe in transition”, this event brought together prominent figures in the field of vocational education and training (VET). It served as a collaborative platform where VET experts from the European Commission and the VET4EU2 group worked alongside educational practitioners from various parts of the world.
Distinguished speakers, including Marloes de Vries, EUproVET President; Giulia Meschino, Director Secretary General of the European Vocational Training Association (EVTA); Margarida Segard, EVBB Vice-President and Director of ISQ Academy; Jan Varchola, Team Leader for VET Policy and Stakeholders Relations at the European Commission; Dr. Susan Gill, Manager of the Green Skills Programme office at SOLAS; and Ülle Kesli, Senior Specialist for Continuing Education at the University of Tartu, enriched the event. Their insights underscored the global significance of vocational training in addressing evolving skill demands.
This event kicked off with a special intervention from Rhodes, Greece, where the 32nd Annual Conference of EfVET was happening. This international connection highlighted the far-reaching impact of VET and its crucial role in the modern world.
The event received institutional greetings from key figures, including Joachim James Calleja, EfVET President and Principal/CEO of MCAST; Arja Krauchenberg, EPA Project Coordinator and LLLP Office Vice-President; and Theodor Grassos, EVBB Secretary General.
The primary goal of the event and the entire week was to catalyze a stronger global movement for vocational training, recognizing its central role in ensuring a skilled and secure workforce to meet future challenges.
The collaborative efforts of EU Policy Camp, VET4EU2, EfVET23 and the European Year of Skills contributed to the vision of a skilled and resilient working population, highlighting the vital role of vocational training in the modern world.
