This event was co-organized by SOLIDAR in cooperation with other members of the S&D Group. The Rome Statement on the Future of Europe, which was the output of a consultation process, was applauded by the conference participants and handed over to the Heads of States who came together on 25th March for signing the Rome Declaration. Quite a few elements of the Rome statement can be found in the Rome Declaration.
Secretary General of EVBB, Horst Dreimann, was invited by the European Movement International (EMI) in which EVBB is a member, to be part of a debate and the March for Europe against populism, for a Europe in unity, a Europe that delivers on its promises of peace, freedom, security and prosperity, a Europe of solidarity, a Europe that protects European interests and values in the world, a Europe of democracy and for a plan to relaunch and complete European political unity. A statement prepared by EMI and its members and their members on “The Europe we want: Just, Sustainable, Democratic and Inclusive” has gathered over 230 signatures, a remarkable achievement and an incredible show of strength.
Let’s continue our fight for our common values and against populism and those that have an interest in weakening the EU that we stand for!
Horst Dreimann
