About DRDVE – GIPA – Georgian lnstitute of Public Affairs

GIPA is dedicated to cultivating leaders with contemporary knowledge and a steadfast commitment to democratic values. This involves creating and transmitting new knowledge and experiences to empower students for active engagement in democracy-building, advocating liberal values, and promoting freedom in Georgia.

As a prominent university, GIPA aims to strengthen its leading position by producing graduates with advanced academic and professional expertise and conducting internationally significant research to contribute to democratic ideals, freedom, good governance and economic development.

The Department of Rural Development and Vocational Education (DRDVE) of GIPA, established in 2005, specializes in providing vocational education and implementation of donor-funded projects in agriculture, rural development and socio-economic development. Serving as a key contributor to the Sustainable Development Goals, DRDVE promotes public-private partnerships, institutional development, local economic growth, education, environmental initiatives, modern technologies, and innovations. With grant support, DRDVE independently or collaboratively with local, national, and international organizations/experts implements programmatic interventions. These interventions encompass technical and subgrant support, capacity-building, skills development, innovative educational programs, modern teaching practices, training, expert-level consultancy, applied research, and sharing best practices.

DRDVE also executes contractual projects for national and international organizations, covering consultancy, research, awareness-raising, capacity-building, project monitoring, evaluation and learning (MEL), outreach, and event organization. Since 2018, DRDVE has offered a higher Vocational Education Program and certified training courses in Occupational Safety and Environmental Technologies. Currently, DRDVE is working on the development and establishment of two higher vocational programs in Renewable Energy and Energy Management.
