The University of Applied Sciences for Small and Medium Enterprises (FHM) is a state-recognized private institution, established in 2000 with the aim of providing practical education to professionals and executives in the small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) sector. Founded by the SME sector for the SME sector, FHM focuses on delivering practice-oriented education, developing scientific study programs, and conducting research and development projects in close collaboration with businesses, associations, and public institutions. FHM offers 39 state and internationally recognized Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programs in areas such as Business, Psychology, Media, and Human Resources/Health/Social Sciences. Currently, over 5,500 students are enrolled at FHM, which has a presence across nine locations nationwide. FHM distinguishes itself through a strong regional commitment paired with an international outlook. The central mission of the institution is to enhance the competitiveness, innovation capacity, and economic growth of SMEs, contributing to regional development in the process. The university’s academic programs and projects are closely aligned with practical, real-world issues, emphasizing interdisciplinary approaches in both teaching and research to tackle the complex and socially relevant challenges of today. FHM developed a scientific approach that is closely connected to the practical needs of SMEs, addressing socially significant topics and driving innovation across various fields. The institution is dedicated to implementing concrete research and development projects that offer practical solutions to contemporary challenges. The sustainability of these projects is rooted in their innovative nature, participatory approach, and interdisciplinary focus, all of which are central to FHM’s mission in education, research, and knowledge transfer. FHM’s programs are geared towards the SME sector and regional development, integrating future-oriented and innovative technologies into all aspects of its curricula, research projects, and degree programs. FHM’s research and development mandate primarily focuses on its students and research partners from academia, industry, and public administration. The university also operates affiliated in-house institutes, which play a significant role in applied research at FHM through numerous projects. To systematically support all research and development activities, FHM has a dedicated project department responsible for the coordination, implementation, and financial management of these initiatives.
Our B2P business unit stands for empowerment through education. To achieve this goal, we rely on national and international collaboration and partnerships and implement EU-founded projects, that focus on innovation, skill development and the creation of cutting-edge educational resources. Adittionally, we provide complete training packages and job coaching to equip jobseekers with both technical and interpersonal skills, allowing them to re-establish their careers, in close collaboration with Germany’s employment agencies.
Our B2B business unit is dedicated to providing upskilling opportunities for IT staff across some of Germany’s most well-known enterprises, as well as delivering numerous cooperative and upskilling projects for small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs).
In terms of digital proficiency, brainymotion can be a reliable and beneficial partner for providing IT training programs in various domains, including Cloud Computing, Machine Learning, and Data Science. Furthermore, our portfolio encompasses project management and entrepreneurship trainings, as well as job orientation and re-orientation consultations.
