Celebrating the Partnership Between EVBB and Don Bosco Tech Africa

As Don Bosco Tech Africa (DBTA) celebrates its 10th anniversary, the European Association of Institutes for Vocational Training (EVBB) extends heartfelt congratulations and joyfully reflects on our evolving partnership. Our journey together began in 2019 with the SAAM pilot project, a pioneering initiative connecting Europe and Africa in vocational education and training (VET).

From that initial collaboration, our relationship has blossomed into a robust partnership with numerous initiatives. Our visits to Africa, starting with the General Assembly in Tanzania in March 2023, were transformative. Being on the ground allowed us to directly assist in preparing the Participant Identification Codes (PICs) and facilitating the validation of Don Bosco schools across Africa. This hands-on support in countries like Côte d’Ivoire, Kenya, Tanzania, Mozambique, and Angola was pivotal in enabling these schools to become operational EU partners.

Working side by side, we have successfully submitted applications for various EU projects, enhancing opportunities for students and educators alike. The inclusion of DBTA’s extensive network of Don Bosco schools into the EVBB family has enriched our community with diversity and shared expertise. Following our visit to Tanzania and the introduction of DBTA at our International Conference in Uppsala, Sweden, in June 2023—graced by the presence of the DBTA Director—our collaboration reached new heights.

Our partnership was further solidified during our Secretary General’s presentation in Malta alongside representatives from Don Bosco Europe and Africa. This event celebrated the unity and shared purpose between our organizations, underscoring our collective commitment to advancing vocational education and fostering opportunities for youth across continents.

Looking to the future, we are thrilled to announce the EVBB scholarships launching in 2025 to support African students. We will offer one-year scholarships to aid daily life during studies for ten students and mobility scholarships for two students to study in Europe, hosted by EVBB members and fully funded by EVBB. These initiatives symbolize our dedication to nurturing talent and bridging cultures.

As we honor DBTA’s 10th anniversary, we are filled with gratitude for our shared journey and anticipation for what lies ahead. The strength of our partnership is rooted in shared values and dreams. We look forward to many more years of collaboration, growth, and making a lasting difference together.

Happy 10th Anniversary, Don Bosco Tech Africa!
