About IMAT – Italian Maritime Academy Technologies
IMAT is driven by the desire to transmit the core values of a “safety culture” of excellence in order to avoid maritime accidents. We believe that lifelong learning, i.e. continuous updating of skills, is synonymous with reliability and quality. IMAT aims to train seafarers according to international standards to improve safety in the world of navigation. Thanks to the availability of advanced technologies and to the knowledge acquired by our instructors, we are able to offer a complete training of crews, from STCW mandatory courses to those recommended by IMO (taylored). IMAT wants to establish a deep and reliable link between seafarers’ skills and the shipping world. Our challenge is to create an integrated ecosystem to unify the training process, all while collaborating with shipping companies, government authorities and international training centers.
Achievements
IMAT training center numbers: Over 50 shipping companies worldwide (MSC, Carnival Maritime Corporation, Silversea, e 3. tc.); 25,000 seafarers trained each year – IMAT is the first Merchant Marine Academy in Italy; 16 accreditations with the most important maritime authority; 45 Classrooms and we will increase another 32 in the coming months; 80 instructors; 4 bridge simulators at 360°; 2 engine room simulators; 21 Mini Bridge Simulators; 258 workstations (ECDIS, RADAR, GMDSS, HV, ECR, engine workshop etc.).; 165 rooms: the building is a college with private rooms, restaurant and seafarers’ accommodations.
