Real Corp 2024 in Mannheim

From April 14th to 17th, EVBB proudly participated in and sponsored Real Corp 2024, the 29th International Conference on Urban Planning and Regional Development in the Information Society. This year’s theme, “Keep on Planning for the Real World: Climate Change calls for Nature Based Solutions and Smart Technologies,” set the tone for discussions held at the John Deere Forum in Mannheim, Germany.

The conference commenced with esteemed keynote speakers, including Christian Specht, Mayor of Mannheim; Perizat Daglioglu, President of the University of Applied Management Studies Mannheim; Angelika Altmann-Dieses, Rector of Hochschule Mannheim; Hans-Rudiger Kaufman, also from the University of Applied Management Studies Mannheim; Pietro Elisei, President of ISOCARP; and Manfred Schrenk, the Conference Director.

With approximately 200 participants from over 30 countries attending both in person and online, the event aimed to facilitate the exchange of knowledge, ideas, and discussions on current developments in spatial planning, geoinformation, and related disciplines. These interactions fostered the development of new partnerships, projects, and innovative approaches to sustainability.

Noteworthy discussions included a round table led by Prof. Dr. Hans Ruediger Kaufmann and a dialogue between EVBB’s representatives, Dr. Prof. Dolores Sanchez Bengoa and Alfred Pallarca, Prof. Dr. Mathias Radle from HDWM, and Fabian Sennekamp from Zeppelin University, on “Universities as Drivers of Sustainability.” They emphasized the pivotal role of educational institutions in promoting sustainability through research, practical applications, and capacity building.

The event featured additional keynote speakers such as Prof. Ali A. Alraouf from Hamada Bin Khalifa University, Doha Qatar; Dhiru Thadani from Thadani Architects, Washington DC, USA; Stefan Rau from the Asian Development Bank; and Vice Dean for Strategic Development, Dagmar Cagáňová from Comenius University of Bratislava.

Real Corp 2024 was a resounding success, inspiring meaningful dialogue and progress towards sustainability.
