Study Visit in Tunisia

Meeting with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Tunis and FACE Foundation

On October 24th and 25th, a delegation from the European Association of Institutes for Vocational Training (EVBB) engaged in a strategic study visit to Tunisia, highlighting our commitment to sustainable growth, social inclusion, and economic empowerment throughout the region. This impactful visit featured pivotal meetings with two of our esteemed members: the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Tunis (CCITunis) and the FACE Foundation, both integral to fostering social and economic advancements in Tunisia.

Expanding Partnerships with CCITunis

At the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Tunis, EVBB representatives, alongside officials from Tunisia’s Ministry of Economy and Finance, gained insights into CCITunis’s activities, including its international collaborations, export-related services, and training programs. EVBB presented its initiatives in Africa and the Middle East, fostering a robust exchange on expanding EVBB’s membership within Tunisia and exploring potential partnerships with Tunisian ministries responsible for Vocational Education and Training (VET).

The discussions emphasized the mutual benefits of a closer relationship between EVBB and Tunisian industry leaders. An expanded EVBB network in Tunisia would offer local companies access to a broader international community, enhancing opportunities for collaboration, resource-sharing, and skill development. Such partnerships align with a shared vision of advancing Tunisia’s workforce through targeted training and education initiatives.

FACE Foundation: A Hub of Social Innovation

Following the discussions with CCITunis, the EVBB team visited the FACE Foundation’s center, a space dedicated to uplifting marginalized communities. Since 2014, FACE Tunisia has made significant strides in combating exclusion, marginalization, and discrimination. Their work focuses on gender equality, social inclusion, and economic empowerment, providing critical support to vulnerable groups.

The center showcases artisanal products crafted by Tunisians, many of whom are women. These creations highlight Tunisia’s rich cultural heritage and serve as a pathway to economic empowerment for local artisans and entrepreneurs, allowing them to achieve financial independence and self-sufficiency.

A Broader Vision for Regional Cooperation

These meetings underscore the importance of partnership in tackling economic and social challenges. EVBB’s engagement with organizations like CCITunis and the FACE Foundation reinforces our mission to foster resilient, inclusive economies where individuals can thrive. An expanded network in Tunisia strengthens EVBB’s regional ties and supports our overarching goal of making a positive impact through strategic vocational training and education.

As part of the visit, Sonia Degroote had the opportunity to discuss EVBB’s mission and impact on a national scale through an interview on Tunisia’s RTCI radio program “Emission Récap” (10:00-11:00 AM), reaching an audience of one million listeners. The interview highlighted EVBB’s work in Tunisia, Europe, and Africa. You can find a recording of the interview here.

Through these partnerships, EVBB aims to empower communities in Tunisia and beyond, equipping them to navigate the challenges of a modern, interconnected world.
