Kick-off of the EQAVET 4.0 Project in Uppsala: Shaping the Future of VET Quality

Athens, Greece | April 2025

On 6 and 7 of May, the EQAVET 4.0 project officially took off with a powerful two-day kick-off meeting held on May 6th and 7th in Uppsala, Sweden, hosted by project coordinator Folkuniversitetet. The gathering brought together partners from across Europe to begin a shared journey towards transforming quality assurance in vocational education and training (VET).

What sets EQAVET 4.0 apart is its strong shift from input-based systems to outcome-oriented approaches. At the heart of the project are innovative tools such as the VETLoop, sectoral mapping, and job profiling—each designed to ensure that VET provision is meaningfully aligned with the needs of today’s labour markets. This learner-centred model places future employment opportunities at the core of educational quality.

In Uppsala, partners laid the foundation for what promises to be a deeply impactful collaboration. Sessions focused on methodology, initial work plan coordination, and how to build on previous initiatives, particularly drawing from the experience of the QSE-VET project, which provides a strong basis for the qualifications mapping phase now beginning across partner countries.

This mapping exercise, soon to be implemented at national level, will allow the consortium to test and refine the EQAVET 4.0 framework, ensuring consistency, adaptability, and impact across diverse VET systems.

EVBB thanks all partners for their engagement and commitment to rethinking how we define, measure and deliver quality in VET. Together, we move toward a future where skills development is more responsive, inclusive and aligned with the realities of the world of work.
