EVBB, as a German association, is actively participating with 24 other organizations in the European campaign #UseYourVote within the European Movement Germany e.V.
This campaign promotes the necessity to vote in the European elections on June 9 to have a strong European Union capable of acting. One of the aims is to foster Europe’s unity and democracy against authoritarian nationalism towards a “united Europe”.
Furthermore, the campaign supports a strong European Parliament with a broad pro-European majority and a value-based democracy that unites and protects Europe in diversity. Freedom, democracy, the rule of law, and human rights are the basis for prosperity and a sustainable social market economy.
Europe faces threats to peace, freedom, and democracy due to conflicts like the war in Ukraine and attacks from authoritarian regimes like Russia. We oppose their allies within the EU and call for action against disinformation, corruption, and illegal influence. The EU institutions need better protection.
Responsible decision-making by the EU institutions, including Parliament, Member States, and the Commission, is crucial for post-elections. Selfish populism and authoritarian nationalism pose threats, and Germany must advocate responsible EU legislation and integration. Considering the European dimension in national projects and early coordination enhances EU policy reliability and Germany’s credibility.
