Vytautas Magnus University Institute for Professional Development is the leader of professional development activities (like module studies, seminars, national and international conferences, long term courses, distance learning, group and individual consultations, educational projects) in Lithuania. The goals of VMU Institute for Professional Development are to organize re-qualification studies and in-service trainings for schoolteachers, principals, educational support specialists, for sports specialists and instructors and other public sector employees. The Institute team is actively engaged in the development and realization of international, national, and regional educational and scientific projects within the competence of the Institute for Professional Development. Professional competencies are developed by educators from Lithuania and abroad, education management specialists, Vytautas Magnus University and other higher education teachers, social and youth workers, public, non-governmental and private sector teams. The Institute clients are reachable by strengthening long-term social partnership, consolidating, and developing social networks, creating and strengthening cluster culture, developing national and international networks of smart education professionals. We are working closely with National Ministries, NGOs, and professional network associations.
School teachers have an opportunity to acquire a second pedagogical qualification. For example, Pedagogical specializations (module programs) were attended by 812 students who obtained the second pedagogical qualification or its specialization in 2022. Also, educators have an opportunity to deepen and expand their professional competencies by attending courses or in-service training activities. About 100 seminars are offered annually, attended by over 3,000 teachers from all over Lithuania. Training activities can be organized in a contact, online or blended way.
