About The E-learning Programme at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens

The E-Learning Programme of the Center of Continuing Education and Lifelong Learning of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens has been operating successfully since 2001 being the first and the oldest E-learning Programme of a Higher Education Institution in Greece. It provides educational training programmes that link theoretical and academic knowledge to the practical and applied skills required in the respective professional fields.

The E-Learning Programme offers more than 400 courses and certification programmes covering a wide range of disciplines. More than 150 senior academics and experts are contributing to the programme. Courses are offered in both Greek (400 courses) and English (50 courses).

The E-learning Programme uses innovative learning techniques (including VR learning) and a user-friendly platform adapted to international standards of Distance Learning Principles. New and innovative training programs are developed constantly, in particular linked to cutting-edge professions, but also the development of digital skills, the demand for which is becoming increasingly evident. Learners can locate almost any program they are interested in through a wide range of directions (more than 40), such as: Business Organization and Management, Finance, Tourism, Environment, Information Technology, Web Development, Digital Transformation, Law, Culture, Psychology, Pedagogy, Special Education, Marketing, Health, RealEstate, Shipping, etc.

A dedicated section of the E-learning Programme is addressed to Corporate Training, with a total of more than 6500 professionals from more than 400 companies in the public and private sector being trained and certified.

The E-learning Programme has a dedicated R&D department team that is responsible for identifying the current and future needs of the labour market and for the development of programmes that answer these needs. A good example are the programs to address the digital and green transformations that seek to equip learners of all categories with the necessary digital and green skills for the dual transition.

The R&D work is based on an elaborate foresight methodology for the strategic anticipation of skills and occupation. more than 140.00 persons have graduated from the wide range of programmes offered. In terms of outreach, more than 200.000 interested users and learners (the number is continuously increasing) are receiving frequent newsletters and updates.

Credit points for Vocational Education and Training (ECVET) are awarded in most of the programmes, while graduates, in addition to the Certificate, also receive the Europass Diploma Supplement. The E-learning Programme is coordinated by Prof. Panagiotis Petrakis, Professor of Economics at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.
