About Movetia – Exchange and Mobility
We are the national agency for the promotion of exchanges and mobilities in the education sector. On behalf of the Confederation and the cantons, we provide financial support for projects. Movetia follows a clear vision: all young people take part in an exchange during their education.
Swiss institutions and organisations wishing to carry out an exchange or cooperation project can apply for funding from us. We have funding opportunities for all educational levels:
School education: primary school, lower secondary school and upper secondary school
Vocational education and training: Training companies, vocational schools, professional associations
Adult education: e.g. organisation for basic skills, adult education centres, coaching, libraries
Higher education and higher vocational education: Universities, universities of applied sciences and higher vocational education
Youth work: youth organisations, open youth work in the municipalities
Achievements
- Strengthening Mobility in VET: Successfully enabled thousands of apprentices and vocational students to participate in exchanges and work placements, both within Switzerland’s language regions and abroad.
- Supporting Institutions: Provided funding and guidance to vocational schools, training companies, and professional associations (OdA) to build long-term partnerships and embed mobility into curricula.
- Expanding International Cooperation: Developed collaborations with European and global partners through the Swiss Programme for Erasmus+ and other initiatives, ensuring Swiss VET remains connected and innovative.
- Promoting Multilingualism & Cultural Understanding: Facilitated interregional exchanges that enhance language skills and intercultural competences, strengthening cohesion within Switzerland’s diverse education system.
- Capacity Building for Stakeholders: Delivered expertise, training, and support structures for institutions and teachers, making mobility projects sustainable and scalable.
- Impact Measurement: Demonstrated measurable benefits on employability, vocational skills, and personal development for learners, while showcasing best practice projects across Switzerland and internationally.
