Leido was founded in 1999 as a national platform to serve as an independent and non-subsidized legal entity (Foundation), helping and suppoirting organizations involved in shaping lifelong learning. In the Netherlands such a platform did not exist, so we filled up a gap. This allows advice to be issued to Colleges but also the government, employer’s organisations, social partners and other networks that consider it important to tackle LLL in the right way. Within the framework of this objective, Leido has been involved, and often by taking the initiative, in the introduction of dual education in higher education, level 5 within higher professional education (Associate degree) and the further design of the learning track from Vocational Education and Training to Higher Professional Education.
Leido has taken the initiative in 2013 to establish CHAIN5 as a community of practice for qualifications at level 5. CHAIN5 is a partner in VET4EU2, having EVBB as a member of this platform.
