About Institute for Albanian Municipalities

The Institute for Albanian Municipalities is a civil society organization, with an interest in contributing to local, regional and national progress and development, for good governance and decentralization through assistance, research, studies and professional training, using legal and democratic means. Extensive experience in the field work with donor projects implemented in the areas of local government, including but only capacity increase for local elected and local administrations; lobbying and review legal drafts, elaborating and delivering trainings on human rights, gender, participatory budgeting; environment, urban planning, waste management, social services etc. Very good understanding and knowledge of Albanian local government and inter-institutional relations acquired from the work as contact point with municipalities and representing the Association in many working groups. Good knowledge of the local governments in the region. We remain interested in joint actions and applications in European and regional programs that regard issues of local democracy, decentralization, inclusive decision-making etc. We also support the work of international organizations and assist them in conducting activities in Albania.
