Afpa is a major operator in vocational training in France and an unvaluable partner of the French Ministry of Labour for more than 70 years by now. At national level, Afpa designs and implements occupational standards, certification/qualification programmes, assessment tools with a crucial role in professional and social integration by supporting job seekers and employees from training to employment including reskilling, upskilling, personal professional and career development. To support the social inclusion public policies, the institution creates and coordinates programs at regional and national level that foster the integration of persons facing particular difficulties on the labour market (early school leavers, people with disabilities, immigrants, ethnic minorities…) by developing their employability, increasing job opportunities and preventing all forms of discrimination.
Afpa produces professional sector specific survey reports to help public decision makers define their training and certification plans and programs and develops new skills and jobs training programs to respond to the emerging needs in the labour market, in particular in digital and green transition. With more than 110 000 trainees a year (job seekers and employees), a network of more than 100 training centres spread over the territory and perfectly equipped with professional equipment and environment, 3000 trainers managing preparatory, qualifying and accreditation vocational courses that aim to secure vocational integration, career development and the growth and competitiveness of companies.
Afpa cooperates with the major VET European associations : Vice-Presidency of European vocational training association (EVTA) and Board member of European Association of Institutes for Vocational Training (EVBB). Afpa is deeply involved in advisory group or platform launch by the EU Commission.
All Afpa’s activities, commitments and innovations aim to anticipate the necessary skill needed for success in tomorrow’s workplace for a better professional and social integration, while contributing to gender equality and equal access to vocational training throughout the country. Furthermore, Afpa supports energy transition emerging needs by developing new skills and jobs innovative training programmes including new pedagogical approach directly related to digital and green transition.
With the support of the French Ministry of Labour, AFPA launched an ambitious project to support companies and territories looking for new skills in order to face profound change related to specific transitions : the “Ecological Engineering Incubator”
