The ADPP Bissora Vocational School (EVB), established in 1997 in the Oio region by ADPP Guinea Bissau, aims to train young rural Guineans through various initial programmes tailored to local needs and development. The school is recognized by the government, and its programmes are approved by INAFOR (National Institute of Technical and Vocational Training). EVS offers six courses – Agriculture and Livestock; Plumbing and Water Pump Maintenance; Solar Energy; Electricity; Civil Construction; and Entrepreneurship – and operates as a boarding school to welcome young people from across the country. The courses have evolved over the years to suit the changing environment and cope with the fundamental changes in demand in Guinea-Bissau. The training, which combines theory and practice enables the students to test their newly gained skills by planning and implementing community initiatives that improve people’s living conditions. To date, the EVB has trained 2,681 students, with an average of 20% being women, particularly in courses such as agriculture and sewing, which have higher female participation.
Green Climate Fund – APICA Project (2024–2029): At the ADPP Vocational Training School in Bissorã, 460 youth from 34 rural communities are being trained in climate-resilient agriculture, post-harvest practices, animal husbandry, and business management, with structured internships and strong female participation targets to boost local adaptation and livelihoods. AfDB – PACVEAR Programme (2022–2025): Through the AfDB-financed PACVEAR programme, the Bissorã vocational school delivers training in climate-smart agriculture and entrepreneurship linked to key national value chains (rice, cassava, horticulture, cashew, and livestock), preparing youth and women for opportunities in production, processing, storage, and marketing. EU/UNIDO – IDEA/WACOMP Incubation Centre (2021–2024): The Bissorã vocational school hosted an entrepreneurship incubation centre supporting 60 early-stage entrepreneurs with tailored business training, mentorship, and digital tools, strengthening rural value chains such as cashew, mango, fishing, and agroforestry. Entrepreneurship and Capacity Building (2024): At the ADPP Vocational School in Bissorã, an Entrepreneurship Office was established, training 324 people and organisations as well as 76 graduating students in entrepreneurship. With support from ENABEL, the school also strengthened staff capacity and improved its physical learning environment.
