Eldicare 2.0
Eldicare 2.0, as the continuation of Project Eldicare: Matching Skills in a Growing European Silver Economy, aims to strengthen the cooperation among sectoral partners on elderly care and education providers in healthcare, as well as to update the occupational profiles and competencies of professionals in the elderly caregiving sector, by providing a sectoral skills long-term strategy that will tackle skills gaps on the labour market and anticipate future skills.
In parallel, its specific objectives include the:
- Up/reskilling of the elderly care professionals,
- Upgrade the existing and emerging Occupational Profiles with up-to-date and essential skills for the elderly care practitioners,
- Establishment of a joint methodology for addressing future skills needs,
- Enhancement of the quality and attractiveness of training in the healthcare sector at a European, National, Regional and Local Level.
In order to achieve these objectives, the following activities will be implemented:
- Definition of a forward-looking Upskilling and Reskilling Strategy for the elderly care sector
- Development of a set of up-to-date Occupational Skills Profiles for elderly care practitioners
- Design of modular competency-based training curricula for the reskilling and upskilling of elderly care practitioners based on the new Occupational Profiles
- Pilot delivery of Training
- Offering hands-on solutions to generate long-term impact and sustainability in the elderly care sector
In the consortium, we are going to involve Educational Providers of Healthcare Training (VET & HEI), Market Representatives (elderly care nursing homes, EU Associations) and Partners that provide specific expertise. We are going to train 850 learners, while 60 mobility flows will be implemented. Inter alia, the following results are expected: Blueprint Report on the future Elderly Care Providers, 6 Competence-Based Curricula, Policy Recommendations, and updated Occupational Profiles in the caregiving sector.
Objectives of the project
- Develop a long-term skills strategy for elderly care professionals, by creating a Skills Ecosystem for the Elderly Care Workforce
- Upskill and reskill the elderly care professionals, to be able to meet the growing needs of the ageing population
- Upgrade the existing and emerging Occupational Profiles with up-to-date and essential skills for elderly care practitioners, by focusing on the principles of the digital and green economy, entrepreneurship and a patient-centred care
- Bridge the skills gaps of elderly care professionals, by analysing the skills mismatches in post COVID era, in order to ensure a common basis for the competences
- Establish a methodology for addressing future skills needs, by creating a skills anticipation mechanism and developing policy recommendations
- Provide new teaching and learning approaches, by creating competence-based courses, work-based learning procedures, and employers’ handbook, with the use of micro-credentials and the MOOC platform
- Bring together education actors (VET providers, HEIs) with market representatives and umbrella organizations, by mobilizing and incentivising them to take action, in order to achieve a systemic and structural impact
- Raise the quality and the attractiveness of training in the healthcare sector at a European, National, Regional and Local Level, by developing a common perception among the key stakeholders
Expected Results
In Eldicare 2.0, we are aiming at the creation of – high-level systemic and structural impact, through the related activities included in the WPs, at the following levels:
National/Local level:
- Increased effectiveness in addressing skills mismatches and gaps, particularly in being responsive to the needs of the post-covid labour market.
- Increased attractiveness of VET in the elderly care professions.
- Improved skills recognition and certification for elderly care practitioners.
- Enhancement of environmental awareness and digital literacy of elderly care professionals..
- Better cooperation structures among Vocational Education and Training, Higher Education and elderly care sector.
- Fostering the exchange of good practices among the participating organizations at the WBL-abroad experience.
European level:
- Fostering the resilience and the performance of Elderly care system in the post COVID era.
- Increase of innovation capacity and modernization of the elderly care sector.
- Standardized EU policy recommendations regarding the re-upskilling of elderly care professionals.
- Establishment of strong partnerships and bonds among the educational community and the labour market representatives at EU level.
