EMVOI
This EU-funded project developed a virtual learning environment allowing self-assessment of skills and tailored training giving guidelines for certification according to ISO 17024. Fulfilling the course is clear proof of the manager’s qualification, therefore enhancing employability and opportunities for job-related mobility. Several surveys revealed that professionals involved in EU project management require more specific training in soft skills (e.g. communication) as well as project management-specific responsibilities like partnership management and financial rules. Most EU project managers come from entirely different fields and have different professional backgrounds. This makes it hard to prove their profound skills & expertise developed over the years – a clear point for a certification as proof of their knowledge and experience. Particularly aimed at EU-project managers, the approach covers different steps from assessment to certification. A competence chart provides a first overview of needed skills, skills can then be self-assessed, following tailored training giving guidelines for certification according to ISO 17024 – all part of a multilingual web-based self-assessment tool which ensures easy access with minimal effort. A tailored training which has been created based on recognized project management tools as well as first-hand feedback from experienced project managers identifies strengths and weaknesses in the first step and enhances competencies in the second step. This improves the EU project manager’s opportunities and possibilities in the labour market as well as job-related mobility.
Objectives of the project
The general objective of the EMVOI project is to contribute to the recognition, validation & enhancement of the key competencies of EUPM through strengthening cooperation between the world of training & the world of work by applying an integral approach for assessment, training & ISO 17024 certification.
The specific objectives of the project are to:
- develop a recognition approach for worked-acquired EU project management competences
- develop a competence chart for EUPM that can contribute to developing high-level basic & transversal competencies in a lifelong learning perspective
- create a web-based software for the assessment of transversal competences
- develop ICT-based training courses by using open educational resources & integrating modern digital solutions into the VET process
- develop transversal competencies of EUPM through the use of innovative, competence-based, student-centred & output-oriented approach
- create a certification system under ISO 17024 that can be regarded as a system for the recognition & validation of EUPM competences
- promote English language learning & linguistic diversity through multilingual EMVOI web-platform
