On invitation of MEP Krystyna ŁYBACKA, high ranking politicians and stakeholders from the education field met at the EU Parliament on 28th November 2017 for a seminar on the modernisation of education in the EU. Commissioner Dr. Tibor Navracsics from GD Education and Culture held a fervent speech on all relevant challenges education providers will be confronted with in the years to come.
The digital revolution, new curricula for teachers and learning providers, entrepreneurship development, equal opportunities for ALL including people not in employment, education or training, the so-called „NEETs“, long-life learning and citizenship skills, labour market oriented education and many more topics were presented by a group of about 20 experts from the sector. Secretary General of EVBB, Horst Dreimann, presented Vocational Education and Training (VET) as a first choice for learners, as requested by Commissioner Thyssen during the European Vocational Skills Week, and emphasised the necessity to work on curricula in all education fields that can easily be adjusted within the context of the 21st century skills and a new generation of jobs that do not yet exist for about 65% of today’s learners. He also had a chance to highlight the Maltese Declaration of EVBB and EVTA, which will be dessiminated throughout the Parliament and EAC.
