EVBB meeting with Wuxi Hi-tech Zone Delegation hosted by EUPIC

On 1st February, 2023, under the kind invitation of our Chinese member EUPIC, EVBB was glad to be present at the meeting held at EUPIC’s Brussels office with a delegation from the National Hi-tech District of Wuxi, China.

The Wuxi delegation was led by Mr. Guodong Gu, Deputy Mayor of Xinwu District, Wuxi, China, accompanied by Mr. Jiang Wan, Director of the Science and Technology Bureau of Wuxi High Tech Zone, Mrs. Minyun Li, Director of WXD Sci-tech Innovation Promotion Centre, Mr. Dongqing Zhu, Director of Wuxi Xinwu District Meicun Industrial Zone Committee, Mr. Jiaqi Liu, Deputy Director of Wuxi Taihu International Sci-tech Park Administrative office and Mrs Ruixia Liu, Head of Investment Promotion of WND Sci-tech Innovation Centre.

Mr. Davide Cucino, President Emeritus EU Chamber of Commerce in China, Mr. Philippe Delcour, Consulate General of Belgium in Shanghai Wallonia Export-investment Agency, Mr. Bram Pauwels, Strategic Partnerships Manager of European Business and Innovation Network, Mr. Frederic Druck, Managing Director of ESSENSCIA, Ms Yu Jiao, Head of External Affairs of ChinaEU ICT, Mr Koen Verhaert, CEO of Verhaert were also present at the meeting.

Representatives from both sides expressed their willingness to promote bilateral business communication and cooperation, mutual development and knowledge exchange.

The European Assoociation of Intitutes for Vocational Training (EVBB), represented by Mr Theodor Grassos and Mrs Meng Wang, also exchanged with the delegation the potential areas of cooperation in the area of Vocational Education and Training.

Wuxi is a city in southern Jiangsu province, eastern China, 135 kilometres (84 mi) by car to the northwest of downtown Shanghai. It’s a city of 4.6 thousand square kilometres with 5 million residents. With rapid economic development, Wuxi city has been the No1 in China in GDP per capita for 3 consecutive years. It has been, and is also looking forward to boost further international cooperations between Europe and China.

During their visit, they celebrated the opening of 3 innovation centres in Europe: the Wuxi National Software Park (Belgium), the Wuxi National Software Park (Germany) and the Wuxi International Life Sciences Innovation Park (Belgium). With the successful launching of the three innovation centres, they aim to strengthen the in-depth cooperation in education and training of talents, technology transfer, innovation and entrepreneurship, project incubation, etc. between China and Europe.
